Our Radar Surveillance and Security Systems are designed specifically to assist offshore oil & gas operators with concerns for the security and safety of their offshore assets. These concerns specifically relate to the threats posed by marine traffic and vessels. Our systems can track vessels up to a range of 25 nautical miles (NM) off an offshore/onshore installation. Tracking of vessels is fully automatic and is unaffected by changes in weather and sea conditions. Radar track data is transmitted via a network or radio link to platform display modules, local and remote control rooms (offshore or onshore), and/or any Company operated vessel within 35 NM of the system.

SID Transponders are used to pass accurate positional information, radar track and man overboard data, 'delta mode' or differential GPS corrections, plus other security related information between all platforms and Company vessels within the field area. SID AIS modules receive and integrate information received from Automatic identification System (AIS) modules on passing international ships within the region.

The Ultra Man Overboard Systems (MOB) utilizes Wristwatch Personal Locator Beacons (WWPLBs), platform mounted MOB Alarm Receiver Modules, SID Transponders and Homing Direction Finding (DF) receivers on Standby and Multi-role Vessels, Daughter Craft, and/or Fast Rescue Craft. Collectively, these improve rescue and recovery performance, significantly reducing the time to recover casualties from the water in the event of an emergency incident. The system will operate effectively in conditions of poor visibility, darkness, and heavy seas.

The C2DB display module uses an electronic Admiralty Chart (Raster or S57) as a backdrop for the display of all field marine activity as a complete 'composite' view. This software is designed to provide the Operator with a comprehensive suite of alarms to address issues relating to Security, Collision, Man Overboard, and threat to sub-sea assets from fishing activity. It is also used as a command and control tool for Company vessels within the field area.
At the current time in the North Sea alone some 44 systems protect a total of 105 offshore installations within an area of in excess of 63,000 square miles. Ultra Electronics systems are deployed worldwide, throughout Angola, Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Netherlands and Nigeria.
Radar Processing and Tracking
Our radar processing and tracking system can be integrated to work with any radar system, and can be configured to optimize particular manufacturer's radar; enhancing radar signal and conditioning video. This hardware and software based radar processing system has already been successfully delivered to the UK Royal Navy for the Type 45 Destroyer programme, and elsewhere on networks of up to forty-nine radars.
Ultra Electronics SID transponders provide a wireless data-link capable of transmitting application and positional data while handling strong encryption. We have recently produced a more advanced, and reduced size SID, available with additional GSM card and Iridium 9601 Short Burst Data (SBD) Modem for OTH (Over-The-Horizon) operations. The SID can interface with any PC, Laptop, Tablet, or PDA providing a wireless communications link and can be supplied with NMEA, Serial, USB, or Bluetooth interfaces. The SID transponders have recently been used with C2DB for classified asset tracking operations.
